Hardoi : Eight people, including three children, were killed when a sand-laden truck overturned on a roadside hut in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning. The truck was reportedly returning from Ganga river after illegally mining sand when it overturned due to overloading.
The incident took place near Chungi number-two in Mallawan town, where the family of Bhalla Kanjar had built a hut and was living there. The family was sleeping on the roadside after having dinner on Tuesday night. Early on Wednesday morning, a sand-laden truck coming from Mehndighat Kannauj towards Hardoi overturned on their hut, burying them all under the sand.
On getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and removed the sand with the help of a crane to take out the bodies. Eight people from the same family were killed in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Bhalla Kanjar, his wife Munni, daughters Suneman and Bittu, sons Lalla and Buddhu, along with son-in-law Karan, his wife Hero and son Komal, all residents of Kasupet Bilgram. One daughter, Bittu, was injured and has been hospitalized for treatment. The police are investigating the matter.
