Jaipur : Jaipur The process which was to be completed from June to September has not been completed yet. It is the dream of every parent to provide better education to the students going abroad with the help of education loan. When it comes to studying abroad, this happiness doubles. The government provides such an opportunity through its schemes. Under the ‘Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for Academic Excellence’ scheme of the Education Department, 300 students are given scholarships every year to study in foreign universities and 200 students are given scholarships in Indian universities, but the department Due to the poor attitude, the dreams of many students seem to be shattered. This entire process should start in June for September intake and be completed by August, but till now 5 lists Has been issued, out of which only 97 students in E-1 category and only 2 students in E-2 category have got scholarship for foreign universities. Whereas only 31 out of 200 students have got scholarship for Indian institutions.
More than 10 thousand students had applied for this scholarship. Due to delay in releasing the list, now these students are going abroad by taking education loan as the deadline for admission in foreign universities is nearing. At the same time, admissions have been done in Indian universities and classes have started, but many students are still waiting for scholarship.
Big question: How long will we continue to bear the brunt of the negligence of the education department?
What is the problem: Due to delay in releasing the scholarship list, students have to take education loan.
Who is responsible: Slow process of Higher Education Department, negligence of officers
3 cases showing problems of students due to departmental delay
My parents do not file ITR, for this I gave whatever documents the department asked for, but now I am facing unnecessary objections from the department for scholarship. For this, one had to visit the department several times, this is increasing mental stress. – Surbhi Jain (name changed)
Due to delays in the scholarship process, I had to take a loan to attend the University of Bristol. Despite being in the UK for three months, there has been no update on the scholarship application, which has increased the financial and emotional pressure. – Ankit Sharma (name changed)
I submitted all the required documents. The department repeatedly raised objections by terming the ITR as incomplete. I got admission in a top-80 university, but due to delay in scholarship, I had to abandon my plan to go abroad. -Akshay Aggarwal (name changed)
Department’s attitude: Officer missing at appointment time
The time to meet the officer of the department related to higher education present in the education complex is written on the notice board from 3 to 4 pm. Bhaskar’s reporter tried to meet the Joint Director Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for 5 days, but found the office there closed.
It is worth noting that parents have been given the same time to meet the officer to get information related to scholarship, but they are not able to meet anyone. When we investigated this, we found out that often at this time officers are either not there or even when they are, they don’t want to meet.
During this time, when I talked to the parents present there, they expressed their displeasure. People said that due to the delay in releasing the list, they were forced to take a loan, which has increased the financial burden on their family. Many parents told that they had applied for scholarship last year. The first and second fees were deposited late. The expenses that the government is paying are also not being received on time, due to which the students are upset.
The process gets delayed due to incomplete income tax related documents of children. The students who have already gone abroad through scholarship are being paid on time. 90 crores have been paid so far in this financial year. The university prepares an invoice and sends it to us and then we make the payment. -Om Prakash Bairwa, Commissioner, College Education
