Voltage problem at Jalore 3 pumping station since last 20 days, 20 lakh liters less water is available daily.

Jalore : Narmada project based water supply of Jalore district is affected. At present, this is happening due to the project being located in Sanchore district from the stock tank, canal to the pumping station. Local officials are citing the problem of voltage at the pumping station for the last 20 days as the reason for the water supply schedule being affected, but the other important aspect is that if the water supply in Jalore is affected, the local authorities have instructions and written to Sanchore directly to improve the system. There is no system for issuing instructions. Due to which the situation is becoming dire. At present, Jalore is getting 25 to 30 percent less water every day. On the other hand, abundant inflow of water continues in the Narmada Main Canal.

water supply in 120 hours

Water supply department officials say that the schedule of urban water supply at present is 96 to 120 hours. They are citing voltage fluctuations at Taitrol Pumping Station as the main reason. The special thing in this case is that this problem has not been resolved for almost six months.

Stock not available anywhere in Jalore district

To get rid of the water crisis and to provide a permanent solution in the event of closure of the Narmada Project, a raw-water reservoir was constructed in Taitrol, which can hold water stock for 21 days. The second important aspect is that this stock tank is in Taitrol, 144 km away from Jalore, which is now in Sanchore. To deliver water from Taitrol to Jalore, pumping has to be done at three places – Taitrol, Bagora and Umedabad. Due to voltage or electrical fault, it is not possible to reach Jalore even if water is available. There is no provision of water stock anywhere near Jalore even for a week, whereas it is now mandatory to do so.

Understand serious problems in this way

After the formation of Sanchore district, there has been a change in the geographical conditions. Jalore district is facing the biggest loss in the form of reduction in the availability of water from the Narmada Project. Despite adequate availability of water, problems have increased due to lack of monitoring in the two districts.

Project at a glance – before and now

The entry of the main canal from Gujarat was from Seelu Head and through the main canal this water reached Barmer district. Earlier this part was in Jalore district, now this part is under Sanchore district.

There is a raw-water reservoir, filter plant and pumping station of FR project in Taitrol. This project supplies supplies to 300 villages and towns including Jalore. Earlier this plant was in Jalore district, now it comes under Sanchore district.

– Bagora Pumping Station was earlier under Jalore district. Now this is also under Sanchore district. From Taitrol, water reaches Bagora and then reaches Jalore via Umedabad. Large part now under Sanchore.

Only 300 cusecs of water is required for the drinking water scheme. Since the irrigation season has started, currently 2100 cusecs of water is flowing in the canal. Whereas the demand is only around 1700.

For the last 20 days, water is being available barely 13 to 16 hours out of 24. There are problems due to voltage fluctuations at Bagora, Taitrol and Umedabad pumping stations.
