Patna, 13 November (IANS). Voting is going on on Wednesday under the by-elections being held in four assembly seats of Bihar, Ramgarh, Tarari, Imamganj and Belaganj assembly constituencies. Tight security arrangements have been made for voting. There is a queue of voters at the polling stations since morning.
State Chief Electoral Officer HR Srinivasan said that voting is going on from 7 am in the morning for the by-elections being held on four seats. Tight security arrangements have been made in all areas.
In this by-election, while 10 candidates are in the fray for Tarari assembly seat, 14 candidates are trying their luck in Belaganj. There are five candidates in the fray in Ramgarh and 9 in Imamganj. Overall, more than 12 lakh voters will decide the fate of 38 candidates in this by-election.
Tight security arrangements have been made for voting. More than ten thousand security forces have been deployed, which includes more than seven thousand Bihar Police and more than two thousand Home Guard personnel. Apart from this, central forces have also been deployed.
NDA and Grand Alliance gave their full strength regarding this by-election. Veterans like Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Sinha, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav entered the election campaign field and tried to woo the voters.
In this by-election, Deepa Manjhi, daughter-in-law of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Dr. Vishwanath, son of MP Surendra Yadav, Vishal Anand, son of former MLA Sunil Pandey in Tarari and Ajit Singh, son of state Jagdanand Singh are contesting in Ramgarh.
