History of Jaigarh Fort
Talking about its history, it is said that during the Mughal period, this fort was the main artillery of the rulers here. Apart from this, it was also a place to store weapons and other items used in war. This fort, which reflects the history and culture of Rajasthan, is also known as ‘Vijay Fort’. Its structure and design will give you a glimpse of medieval India. Situated at an altitude of several hundred meters above sea level, this fort is surrounded by massive walls and is connected to Amer Fort by tunnels.
Endless Walls of Jaigarh Fort
The special thing about this fort is that no matter where you are in Amer, one thing that you can see from anywhere is the huge red walls of Jaigarh Fort. The walls, originally made of sandstone, cover an area of 3 km. Another special thing about this fort is that it has the largest wheeled cannon ever made in the world. This cannon was manufactured in this fort. However, despite its large size, it was never used during any battle.
Immense treasure is hidden in the fort
The water tank located behind the cannon present in this fort is still considered mysterious. This tank is very big. This water tank remained a topic of discussion not only in the first century but also in the 20th century. It is believed that the Kachwaha dynasty used this fort to protect their treasure. Many historians believe that there is a chamber beneath this tank located in this fort, where the treasure looted by Maharaja Man Singh from various princely states of Afghanistan and India was hidden.
