Jammu, 5 December (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, while speaking to IANS on Thursday, responded on several important issues. He expressed his views on the security of Indian citizens in Bangladesh, restoration of holiday on the occasion of Sheikh Abdullah’s birth anniversary in Jammu and Kashmir and demand for special status for Jammu and Kashmir.
Surinder Kumar Choudhary expressed concern over the attacks against Indian citizens, especially Hindus and minorities, in Bangladesh. He said that there should be no injustice to common citizens in Bangladesh. Every person has the right to live, whether he is from India or Bangladesh. It is the duty of the government to protect the citizens. He urged the Bangladesh government to take strict action against the violence and atrocities against civilians. The government should ensure that no citizen is troubled without any reason.
Regarding the holiday on Sheikh Abdullah’s birth anniversary in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that some people think that canceling the holidays will change something. Nothing will be done by erasing the name, if change is to be brought, then talk about employment for unemployed children. Talk about the development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chaudhary alleged that previous governments promoted corruption and poor conditions in the state, but his government is now committed to bringing about change. He said that now we are working towards the development of Jammu and Kashmir and will also restore the holiday on the birth anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah.
He said that special status is necessary for Jammu and Kashmir. We need protection of our identity and state rights. We will not compromise on this. Our government will have to ensure that everyone in the state gets water, electricity, school and employment facilities. The government that has been in power in the last six years has done nothing for the state. Now we will bring change and overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.
