Jodhpur News Desk: A woman suffering from HIV got burnt in a fire that broke out in the acute care ward of Mathuradas Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur. The woman’s entire face was burnt. Which was considered as 15 to 20 percent burns. During the incident, the resident doctor was somewhere else in the ward, immediately 15 minutes after his arrival the patient was shifted. The hospital administration considered the victim’s husband to be smoking beedi as the cause of the fire, while the husband has denied this allegation. He says that the oxygen mask itself caught fire and his wife got burnt. The hospital administration has taken action against four employees for not sending information about the incident to the CMO and Superintendent’s office on time. In which the permanent nurse has been made APO. Temporary guards, maids and nurses have been removed from the hospital. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Kishoriya has constituted an investigation committee. Which will submit the report within two days.
The hospital administration informed that CMAO Dental Doctor Jayanarayan was also not given any information from the ward. In this case, temporary working guard Arvind, maid Parveen and mail nurse Ravi were removed. Permanent Nursing Officer Narbada was made APO for Dr. SN Medical College. If the wiring was burnt then something around would have been black. Nothing like this has been seen in the ward. Beedi-matchstick spleen was also found in the ward. If something has happened, the biomedical engineer will tell during the investigation. We have constituted an inquiry committee.”
Husband’s allegation – no one came to take care of him for five hours
The woman, resident of a village in Pali district, is suffering from chronic liver disease along with HIV. The husband and son alleged that the oxygen had caught fire in front of their eyes. After more than half an hour, the nurses and staff posted in the ward came to take care of him.
Burnt beedi and matchsticks found in the ward
Beedi was also found in the ward. Its photos have also surfaced. But the husband is citing the reason of not smoking beedi in the ward. He said that he smokes beedi, but did not smoke beedi in the ward. The victim’s son said that he was electrocuted by the medical equipment fitted to his mother two days ago. But due to fear from the doctors and nurses of the hospital, he hid this fact.
