Hajipur, November 13 (IANS). Bihar’s world famous Harihar Kshetra Sonpur fair started from Wednesday. This month-long historic fair was jointly inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra, Revenue Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Information Technology Minister Sumit Kumar Singh.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that this fair has been organized since about 2000 years ago, this place is very historical. From great emperors Chandragupta, Akbar to Babu Kunwar Singh have also come here. This is the historical place, which is the area of Lord Hari and Har. That is why it is named Harihar Kshetra.
While announcing, he said that the state government will construct the corridor in the name of Baba Harihar Kshetra. The government plans to build a grand city on 10 thousand acres here. A total of 20 thousand crore rupees schemes are in progress by the government in this area. Parallel to JP Setu, construction work of Sherpur Dighwara bridge is going on.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, both respect for heritage and development is being done here. This is the year of renaissance of our cultural heritage. The development of Mother Janaki’s birthplace in Sitamarhi is the priority of the government. This Hariharnath temple is historical. We have decided to start a three-day Hariharnath Mahotsav here so that the heritage here becomes even richer.
Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra said that the government has given him the responsibility of Industry and Tourism Department to enrich the image of Bihar. The government is doing this work continuously. Sonpur fair is quite old. It has a rich history. To make it better, the Tourism Department, Art Culture and Youth Department and the District Administration have made complete arrangements for better organization of the fair.
Revenue Minister Dilip Jaiswal instructed the entire team of the district administration including Saran District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to improve the system even further.
Presiding over the function, Science and Technology Minister Sumit Kumar Singh said that we are further enriching the Sonpur fair so that more and more tourists come here. We should provide good hospitality so that people come here again and again.
On the occasion of the inauguration, the team of Bollywood singer Aishwarya Nigam and Dipali Sahay enthralled the audience with their performance.
