Police seize truck loaded with illegal liquor worth crores, interstate liquor smuggler arrested

Firozabad : The police of Thana Tundla and the SOG team seized a truck loaded with illegal liquor worth over Rs 1 crore on Sunday. The police have also arrested an interstate liquor smuggler from the spot. The recovered liquor was being taken for the Lok Sabha elections.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sarvesh Kumar Mishra said that the police team of Thana Tundla and SOG was patrolling the area on Sunday when they seized a truck near Usayani bridge. The police recovered 1000 boxes of English illegal liquor and 200 boxes of beer from the truck. Gurcharan Singh alias Channi, son of Karamchand, resident of Suchetgarh, police station Aras Pura, tehsil Aras Pura, district Jammu, was arrested from the spot.

He said that during interrogation, accused Gurcharan Singh alias Channi said that the truck was to be taken from Ambala (Punjab) to Bihar border. He was to be paid Rs 1 lakh for this work. The accused said that the person who gave the truck had prepared fake bills on which food oil and machine parts were written so that he could not be caught with the liquor. The accused said that he used to talk on WhatsApp call. There is a huge demand for liquor due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and liquor ban in Bihar. The accused has also said that he has been to jail from Udaipur and Dungarpur in Rajasthan in the past for liquor smuggling cases. The ASP said that the market value of the recovered liquor is over Rs 1.25 crore. The criminal history of the accused is being investigated.
