
Udaipur, March 14: Two individuals lost their lives in separate train accidents on the Patna-Gaya railway section in Jehanabad district on Saturday. The incidents occurred near Jehanabad Court Halt and Makhdoompur railway station, prompting police to initiate an investigation.
In the first incident, 50-year-old Dilip Kumar Sharma from Shahbazpur village in Gaya district was struck by a train near Jehanabad Court Halt. He was living with his family in the Shanti Niwas area of Jehanabad and was constructing a house near the court station.
According to family members, a snake appeared at the construction site during excavation work, causing him to panic and run towards the railway tracks. At that moment, a MEMU passenger train passed through and hit him. The impact was so severe that one of his arms was severed, and he sustained serious head injuries, resulting in his death at the scene. Local police from the Sadar police station arrived after being informed and began their investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
As news of the death spread, family members and villagers gathered at Sadar Hospital, leading to an emotional scene as relatives mourned. In another incident on the same railway section, an unidentified young man was also killed after being hit by a train near Makhdoompur railway station.
The deceased is believed to be around 30 years old and was wearing a sky-blue full-sleeve shirt and blue trousers at the time of the accident. The Government Railway Police (GRP) is investigating the matter. According to GRP in-charge Deep Narayan Yadav, the body will be kept in the morgue for 72 hours post-mortem to allow for identification. Photos of the deceased have been circulated on social media to help locate his family. Authorities are looking into both incidents.
