New Delhi, May 1: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Shahdara district police have arrested three individuals involved in marijuana trafficking. The police seized 1.944 kilograms of marijuana during separate operations conducted by teams from Vivek Vihar and Farsh Bazar police stations.
According to police reports, the first incident occurred in the Vivek Vihar area. On April 29, ASI Kuldeep, Head Constable Manish, Head Constable Naresh, and Constable Sachin were patrolling the Kasturba Nagar locality in plain clothes when they noticed a suspicious young man attempting to flee upon seeing the police. He was apprehended, and a search revealed 650 grams of marijuana in his possession. The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Gaurav Gupta, also known as Kaliya, a resident of Shahdara, with 12 prior criminal cases against him. An FIR has been filed under the NDPS Act at the Vivek Vihar police station.
The second operation was carried out by the Farsh Bazar police. On the night of April 28, around 11 PM, Head Constables Hemant Kumar, Ravi Shekhar, and Mohit spotted a suspicious individual carrying a plastic bag. During questioning and a search, 779 grams of marijuana was found. The accused, identified as 36-year-old Nizamuddin, also known as Tonu, is a resident of Shahdara and has 10 previous cases registered against him. An FIR has also been filed under the NDPS Act in this case.
The third arrest took place in the Farsh Bazar area as well. On the night of April 29, around 10 PM, a police team patrolling near the railway line in Bholanath Nagar apprehended a man attempting to escape upon seeing the police. A search revealed 515 grams of marijuana in his possession. The accused has been identified as 32-year-old Mukesh, a Shahdara resident with five prior cases against him.
Police confirmed that all three individuals have been arrested and charged under the NDPS Act, highlighting their previous involvement in criminal activities.
