Amit Shah Reviews Development Projects in Jammu

Jammu, February 7: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the progress of Development Projects in Jammu on Saturday. During the meeting, the Minister conducted a comprehensive review of key sectors including road infrastructure, hydropower projects, electricity, industry, tourism, 4G, and optical fiber connectivity. The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Union Home Secretary, and senior officials from both the central and Jammu and Kashmir governments.

Amit Shah emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian government is committed to the vision of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the continuous and dedicated efforts made by the Modi government have led to unprecedented progress in development projects in the region. Shah highlighted the need to fully harness the potential of hydropower projects in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed the importance of achieving 100% saturation of the government’s welfare schemes to ensure that all beneficiaries receive the benefits of development projects.

The Union Minister also called for the development of sports infrastructure and the establishment of sports academies to connect the youth with development. He mentioned that discussions with various sports bodies would aim to secure an investment of approximately ₹200 crores. Efforts should also be made to promote the dairy sector in Jammu and Kashmir through the National Dairy Development Board.

In a significant move, Jammu and Kashmir has been included for the first time under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme for the financial year 2025-26, which will provide interest-free loans for capital projects over a period of 50 years. The Home Minister emphasized that strong financial discipline will help stabilize the financial deficit of the Union Territory over time.

Amit Shah stated that the country is rapidly moving towards the goal of a developed India by 2047, marking 100 years of independence, and assured that the Indian government will continue to provide full support to Jammu and Kashmir in achieving this goal. His visit underscores the government’s firm commitment to making the development, peace, and security of Jammu and Kashmir a top national priority.
