New Delhi: Anurag Dhanda, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raid on the I-PAC office in Kolkata. He also commented on the Faiz-e-Ilahi mosque encroachment issue in Delhi and the controversial remarks made by BJP leader Nitesh Rane.
Speaking to the media, Dhanda described the BJP’s actions as a sign of panic. He said whenever the BJP feels threatened and unable to face opposition parties in elections, it resorts to agencies like the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to him, after the Election Commission’s intervention in West Bengal, the BJP is facing possible defeat and is now attempting to influence the election through raids by the ED and Income Tax Department.
TrendingDhanda further accused the BJP of trying to restrict opposition parties from accepting donations and even from conducting election campaigns freely. “They are now confiscating campaign materials and election documents to prevent opponents from competing,” he said, calling these measures a reflection of the BJP’s desperation.
On the Faiz-e-Ilahi mosque encroachment matter, Dhanda alleged that the BJP had previously tried to stir communal tensions in Delhi. He referred to BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who had made inflammatory statements but has yet to face action. He also mentioned the vandalism by BJP workers at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), noting that despite photographic evidence, no action has been taken against them. Recently, controversial slogans were raised at JNU, but the identities of those responsible remain unknown.
Regarding the recent bulldozer drive in Delhi, Dhanda suggested that the government deliberately conducted the operation at night to worsen the situation and accused it of sending its own people to disturb the peace.
He added that the BJP is struggling to respond on issues like pollution and law and order in Delhi. When the Aam Aadmi Party raised pollution concerns in the Delhi Assembly, Kapil Mishra shared edited videos, according to Dhanda.
Dhanda also criticised the BJP for involving religious leaders in politics, misusing their names, and spreading fake videos, stating these actions reveal the party’s willingness to go to any lengths in political battles.
