
Mumbai, January 23 β A startling incident occurred in the Worli area of Mumbai, the financial capital of India, when an individual attempted to abduct the five-year-old son of a Mumbai Police officer. Thanks to the vigilance of the child’s mother, the quick thinking of local residents, and the prompt response of the Worli Police, the kidnapping attempt was successfully foiled. The police apprehended the suspect at the scene.
The incident took place near the Worli Police camp. The accused has been identified as Lakshman Kalu Chaudhary, 55, a resident of the Sakinaka area. The child’s father, Sachin Tawre, is currently serving as a police sub-inspector at the Colaba Police Station.

According to police officials, around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, the child’s mother, Komal Sachin Tawre, 33, a homemaker residing in the Worli Police camp, was preparing dinner at home. During this time, her son, Smits (5), went to buy snacks from a nearby shop with an eight-year-old girl from the neighbourhood. After about 15 minutes, the young girl returned, visibly distressed, and informed Komal that a man was trying to forcibly take her son.

Alarmed, Komal rushed to the scene and found a man, aged approximately 50 to 55 years, dragging her son down a narrow alley towards the sea. Hearing the mother’s cries, local residents quickly gathered and managed to rescue the child from the suspect’s grasp.
Meanwhile, a local citizen informed the Mumbai Police control room. Within minutes, a team from the Worli Police arrived at the location and apprehended the suspect. The child was safely returned to his family. The Worli Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections pertaining to attempted kidnapping.

The Worli Police stated that the incident was effectively averted due to the quick actions of the mother and local residents, preventing a potential tragedy. The suspect is currently under interrogation, and police are investigating his motives and how he reached the Worli Police camp area. The investigation is ongoing.
