New Delhi, March 26: In today’s lifestyle, physical activities have significantly decreased as most work has become equipment-based. This reduction in physical activity, coupled with a lack of essential nutrients, often leads to pain and discomfort in the feet. In severe cases, walking without support becomes challenging. While doctors may rely on pain medication, Ayurveda offers several remedies that can help alleviate foot pain.
Foot pain can cause swelling and a feeling of heaviness. Ayurveda attributes this to excess sodium and a deficiency of nutrients. Here are some Ayurvedic remedies that, when practiced regularly, can help reduce pain:
The first remedy involves consuming munakka (dried grapes) and almonds. These help nourish the body and strengthen bones. Soak five almonds and five munakkas overnight, and consume them on an empty stomach in the morning for relief from foot pain and swelling. However, those with diabetes should avoid munakka.
The second remedy is to consume fenugreek seeds daily. Soak fenugreek seeds overnight, strain the water in the morning, and drink it on an empty stomach while chewing a few seeds. This can provide relief from joint pain and stiffness.
The third remedy is to consume turmeric with milk. Drinking a mixture of raw turmeric and a pinch of black pepper boiled in milk at night can be beneficial. This will nourish the bones and help detoxify the body.
The fourth remedy involves consuming sesame seeds and jaggery. Both are rich in calcium and help strengthen bones. In summer, roasted chickpeas can be consumed instead of sesame seeds, as they are a good source of protein and iron.
The fifth and final remedy is to consume ghee and ginger powder after meals. This helps improve blood circulation in the feet and reduces the feeling of heaviness.
