Bihar Deputy CM Warns Revenue Staff Amidst Strike Threats

Patna, March 10: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha issued a stern warning to revenue officials and employees on Tuesday, stating that any conspiracy would not succeed. He emphasized that when intentions are clear, the policies of the double-engine government succeed. Those who work for the public with complete transparency, honesty, and dedication will be respected, while politics based on pressure and coercion will not be tolerated.

On March 9, Sinha cautioned the revenue and land reform department staff that if they do not end their protest soon, they would face suspension, and alternative arrangements would be made for departmental work.

During a conversation with reporters, the Deputy CM urged circle officers not to be swayed by a few individuals and to return to work promptly. He made it clear that the government’s sympathy should not be mistaken for weakness, and strict action would be taken against those who disrupt public work.

Sinha also stated that cases related to land that do not have objections should be resolved within 14 days. Minor errors in khasra and lagan should be corrected within 35 days, while complex cases should be settled within 75 days, and improvements in revisions should take 15 days.

He mentioned that last August, a target was set to process around 4.6 million applications by March 31, with 4 million of these being for revisions. This was planned systematically, and the strike was initiated first by circle officers and now by employees.

The Deputy CM asserted that once the strike ends, the processing of applications must resume. He announced that every Saturday, police officers would be present at the circle office during discussions, monitored by district DM and SP. Furthermore, revenue officials will address public grievances at the panchayat level instead of the circle level, with deadlines established for resolving revenue court cases.
