Motihari: Bihar Police have uncovered a major racket involving the manufacture and sale of fake products under the names of well-known companies in the Dumariaghat police station area of East Champaran district.
During the operation, authorities seized a large quantity of counterfeit items, including cosmetic products and beverages. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar informed that the Police Superintendent Swarn Prabhat received a secret tip about a significant illegal business in Rampur Khajuriya village, where fake goods were being produced and sold.
Based on this information, a raid was conducted late Wednesday evening at the residence of Vinod Singh in Rampur Khajuriya. The police recovered numerous counterfeit products bearing the names of reputed companies. Confiscated items included 400 pieces of Beat hair removal cream, 495 pieces of Dabur honey, 510 pieces of Patanjali honey, 192 bottles of Fortune oil, four tins of an oil-like liquid, 3,210 stickers of Beat and Patanjali brands, 2,260 Dabur honey stickers, along with stickers and empty bottles of Fortune oil.
Further, a substantial number of labels, caps, and bottles of various companies were also seized. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused intended to deceive the public by manufacturing and marketing these fake products. A First Information Report has been registered at Dumariaghat police station under appropriate sections, and further action is underway.
It is noteworthy that just three days ago, Motihari Police had uncovered a factory producing counterfeit diesel and petrol in the Harsiddhi police station area. Approximately 3,800 litres of fake diesel, chemicals, and equipment were seized during that operation, and one person was arrested on the spot.
