Malda, February 4: BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has made sharp remarks regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during his visit to Malda. Engaging with local residents over tea, Ghosh discussed the upcoming elections and Banerjee’s recent trip to Delhi concerning the Special Investigation Report (SIR).
Ghosh questioned the Chief Minister’s visit to Delhi while the SIR process was ongoing in West Bengal. He claimed that Banerjee is aware that if the SIR is conducted properly, she may not return to power. This, he suggested, is the reason behind her ‘drama’ in Delhi.
He noted that Banerjee held a meeting in Delhi for about an hour and immediately began making statements upon her exit. Ghosh asserted that there is no issue with the SIR process itself; rather, he accused her party workers of harassing Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He alleged that the SIR process is being deliberately complicated to prevent its timely completion.
Furthermore, Ghosh expressed confidence that, similar to how the Election Commission successfully completed the SIR process in Bihar, it will also be accomplished in West Bengal, predicting results akin to those in Bihar.
On the other hand, Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia, reacted to Banerjee’s meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi, supporting her by stating that “Mamata is like Rani Jhansi” and knows how to fight.
While the BJP raises questions about the SIR process under Banerjee’s leadership, voices of support for her are also emerging.
