Census Will Reveal Community Benefits: Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti

New Delhi, March 28: Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the newly appointed chairperson of the National Backward Classes Commission, stated that the recent notification regarding the census will clearly indicate which communities have benefited from government schemes and which remain deprived.

Regarding the review of criteria for inclusion or exclusion from the central OBC list, she mentioned that she is continuously gathering information on the subject. She assured that if any improvements are deemed necessary, she will present the issue to the Prime Minister. Her aim is to ensure justice for all sections of society.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti expressed her gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this significant responsibility. She admitted that she did not expect her political and social journey to lead her to this position.

She clarified that her priority will be to resolve all pending and critical issues related to the commission. She has made important statements regarding the commission’s operations and priorities, which, according to her, will help make the process of social justice more effective.

On Wednesday, she officially took charge as the chairperson of the National OBC Commission. During this time, she held a meeting with the commission’s officials and staff to discuss future action plans. She also shared pictures of the occasion on the social media platform ‘X,’ reiterating her commitment to the upliftment of society.

In her message, she stated that the commission is determined to ensure justice, security, respect, and equal opportunities for the backward classes. She emphasized that the commission will work diligently towards this goal.

Notably, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has previously served as a minister of state in various ministries of the central government. Born in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, she hails from the Nishad Mallah community and has also served as an MP from Fatehpur.

It is worth mentioning that Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has been a minister in the first two terms of the Narendra Modi government, having been appointed as the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in 2014.
