Ranchi, 28 November (IANS). Hemant Soren was seen in action mode after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time on Thursday. Immediately after assuming charge in the Jharkhand ministry, he handed over a letter of appointment in a government job to Balram Mahato, brother of an army martyr Agniveer Arjun Mahato, and a compensation check of Rs 10 lakh to his family.
Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren and Chandankiyari MLA Umakant Rajak were also present on this occasion.
Arjun Kumar Mahato, a resident of Fatehpur of Silfor Panchayat of Chandankiyari block under Bokaro district of Jharkhand, serving as Agniveer in the Army, was martyred during an encounter in Silchar, Assam on 22 November. Arjun Kumar Mahato, son of Lankeshwar Mahato, was reinstated as Agniveer Jawan in 2023.
Hemant Soren said that our cabinet had earlier approved the proposal to provide a government job and compensation of Rs 10 lakh to a dependent of Agniveer soldiers who were martyred or died while on duty.
He said that we are deeply saddened by the demise of Chandankiyari resident Agniveer and we stand with his family in this hour. His brother has been appointed as a class IV employee in Bokaro District Collectorate. Officials have been instructed to provide benefits of various government schemes to their families.
Soren said that the process of reinstatement on the vacant posts of constables in the excise department in the state has been completed recently. During this restoration, there were tragic incidents of death of many youth of the state. We have decided to review these incidents. Appointment is soon to be made on the vacant posts of constable in the state, in which revision of the prescribed parameters will be considered.
