
New Delhi: The West District’s District Investigation Unit (DIU) of Delhi Police has uncovered a large-scale illegal garment manufacturing and storage unit, seizing 1,919 counterfeit ready-made garments bearing international brand names. The seized items included fake products of several reputed brands, police stated on Thursday.
According to an official police statement, the raid was conducted at an upper-ground premise in Todapur, Delhi, where mass production and storage of fake branded clothes were taking place. The accused, identified as Rajeev Nagpal, 45, was arrested at the scene.
The case came to light following a complaint filed by authorised representatives of internationally renowned brands. The complaint alleged the large-scale manufacture and sale of counterfeit garments in West Delhi. After a thorough investigation, verification of trademark and copyright documents, and obtaining mandatory opinion from the Registrar of Trademarks under Section 115(4) of the Trademarks Act, 1999, the DIU West District planned the raid.
The raid was carried out on 7 January 2026 under the leadership of SI Vandana, with team members SI Udayveer Singh and Head Constable Rishiraj. The operation was supervised by Inspector DIU/West and ACP DIU Vijay Singh, with higher officials overseeing the entire process. Representatives of the complainant companies were also present to ensure the procedure followed legal protocols.
Officers recovered a significant quantity of counterfeit branded clothes, including 1,050 fake Zara shirts, 650 fake USPA shirts, and 213 fake Levi Strauss & Co. shirts. Additionally, six sample shirts (two each of Zara, USPA, and Levi’s) were seized. In total, 1,919 counterfeit garments were confiscated.
An FIR was registered at Inderpuri Police Station on 7 January 2026. The accused faces charges under Sections 103/104 of the Trademarks Act, 1999, and Sections 63/65 of the Copyright Act, 1957. Delhi Police confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
