Udaipur, March 7: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect in Jammu and Kashmir, where empowered women running small businesses expressed their gratitude towards the Narendra Modi government for supporting women’s initiatives and contributing to the nation’s development.
Women shared that opportunities were scarce in the past, but now they are receiving better platforms to pursue their dreams. The startup sector in India is rapidly advancing, with the government welcoming and encouraging various endeavors, whether it be handicrafts, Basohli painting, Basohli shawls, khadi, jute-related work, or any other type of enterprise.
Prabha Khurana, associated with the Women’s Development Corporation, expressed her gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “The status of women has changed significantly today. Women are not only running their own businesses but also holding government positions. The current government is working towards empowering women. With this spirit, women are excited and happy to start their own startups. Today, women can manage both home and work.”
Nazma, a woman running her small business, emphasized the importance of women’s advancement in all fields. She noted, “It is essential for women to keep working, whether the work is big or small. Such opportunities were not available in Jammu and Kashmir before. Since the government has implemented schemes for women’s welfare, girls are now going out to study, and women are stepping out to earn for their families.”
Sushma from the Women’s Development Corporation shared that before starting her own business, she was known by her husband’s name, but now, since she has begun her own work, people recognize her for her contributions. She appealed to all women to not let their skills and talents fade away and to create their own identity with the government’s support.
Manisha, who works with Pashmina shawls and paintings, also highlighted the significant assistance provided by the government. She stated that the initiatives have accelerated the wave of women’s empowerment in the country. Manisha noted that women’s roles are no longer confined to the kitchen; they must actively participate in advancing the nation.
