Mumbai, March 22: Following the death of cow protector Chandra Shekhar, also known as ‘Farsa Wale Baba’, in Mathura, Kanhaiya Agrawal, the provincial president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has lodged a police complaint. He has accused unidentified individuals and cow smugglers of inciting violence.
Agrawal stated that he, along with Kosi president Ranveer Singh and metropolitan minister Nitin Chaudhary, went to the site to calm the crowd, which was ready to end their protest. However, supporters of the unidentified individuals and cow smugglers allegedly began throwing stones.
Agrawal filed his complaint at the Chhata police station in Mathura. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a case under sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 131, and 125 of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident escalated on Saturday following Chandra Shekhar’s death in the Kosi Kalan area, resulting in violence against the police team, which damaged vehicles.
So far, cases have been filed against 22 named individuals and 300 unidentified persons. The police have also registered cases regarding stone-pelting, assaults with sticks, and firing with illegal weapons. Fourteen individuals have been arrested, and search operations are ongoing for others.
SSP Shlok Kumar of Mathura stated that outsiders attempted to disrupt the situation and spread rumors. He explained that Chandra Shekhar had stopped a vehicle, a Nagaland-registered canter, suspecting it was carrying cattle. When he returned to check the canter, another truck collided with him due to fog, resulting in his injuries and subsequent death at the scene.
