Getafes Goalkeeper David Soria Signs New Four-Year Contract

Madrid, June 2: Goalkeeper David Soria has signed a new four-year contract with Getafe CF, ensuring his stay at the club until the end of June 2030. The 33-year-old has made 301 appearances for the club, including a remarkable streak of 189 consecutive matches in La Liga as a first-team player.

In announcing the new contract, Getafe highlighted Soria’s performance, leadership, and commitment, establishing him as a key player both on and off the pitch.

According to a report by Xinhua, Getafe conceded only 38 goals last season, the best record after FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Under the management of José Bordalás, the team performed exceptionally well in the second half of the season, finishing seventh in La Liga and qualifying for next season’s Conference League.

The club stated, “David Soria’s contract renewal is excellent news for both our club’s present and future. We will retain a top-level goalkeeper and a great professional.”

Bordalás has yet to renew his contract with Getafe, while key players Luis and Mauro Arambarri are likely to leave the club. Arambarri is expected to join River Plate, while Luis is being linked with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

Born in Madrid, Soria completed his youth career with Real Madrid. After being released by the prestigious Spanish club, he moved to England for a trial with Leicester City but was let go due to an injury on his first day. Following a brief stint with Birmingham City, who released him due to salary cap issues, Soria returned to Spain. After unsuccessful trials with Real Betis B and Sporting Gijón, he finally joined Sevilla FC in January 2013.

Making his debut with the C team in the Tercera División, he gradually secured a place in the first team during the 2014-15 season. Manager Unai Emery gave him his debut on December 2 in a Copa del Rey match against UD Logroñés, which ended in a 3-0 victory. He remained at Sevilla until July 2018 when he joined Getafe, where he has continued to thrive.
