Government Claims Success Against Naxalism Under Modis Leadership

New Delhi, March 30: BJP MP Shashank Mani has expressed support for Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s recent statements on Naxalism in the Lok Sabha. He stated that under Prime Minister Modi‘s guidance and Amit Shah‘s leadership, the government has effectively controlled and eradicated Naxalism.

Amit Shah highlighted the changes in Chhattisgarh, mentioning that he visited the state just two months after the government changed. He noted that the BJP government provided complete assurance of support, leading to a shared strategy. On August 24, 2024, he announced that Naxalism would be eliminated from the country by March 2026. Following this, security measures were intensified, resulting in the establishment of 596 fortified police stations during Modi’s 11 years in office. The number of Naxal-affected districts, which stood at 126 in 2014, has now reduced to just two, while the most-affected districts have decreased from 35 to zero.

In an interview in New Delhi, Shashank Mani remarked on Amit Shah‘s challenge to the opposition regarding the lack of schools and colleges in Bastar over the years, attributing this to the destruction caused by Naxalites who believe they can maintain control through violence rather than adhering to the Constitution.

He emphasized that the youth must understand that the Naxalism propagated by urban Naxals is fundamentally wrong, leading to the deprivation of development in many areas of the ‘Red Corridor.’ With the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Naxalism is declining, and development is on the rise.

Shashank Mani further explained how the CPI and CPI-M were formed and how external forces have influenced these movements. He concluded that the recent debates in the Lok Sabha clearly indicate that previous governments lacked the will to protect these regions, whereas the current government is fostering development in Naxal-affected areas.
