Mumbai, March 23: Indian cricket team’s star all-rounder and captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Hardik Pandya, is often in the spotlight due to his statements. Recently, he made headlines during an event related to IPL 2026, shedding light on the spiritual aspect of his life.
In a viral video from the MI event, Pandya shared that he listens to the Hanuman Chalisa while driving his expensive car, which he claims gives him positive energy. The video features MI’s batting coach, Kieron Pollard, alongside him.
Pandya stated, “It’s interesting that I have a Ferrari, yet I listen to the Hanuman Chalisa in the car. It’s pretty cool. God has been kind to me. I believe everyone would agree that no song can provide as much positive energy as the Hanuman Chalisa does. I am very clear about this.”
His remarks prompted fans present to chant “Jai Shri Ram.”
Pandya was part of the Mumbai Indians from 2015 to 2021 before moving to Gujarat Titans in 2022, where he led the team to victory in their first season. Under his captaincy, Gujarat Titans also reached the finals in 2023, facing defeat against CSK.
In 2024, Pandya returned to Mumbai, being appointed as the captain in place of Rohit Sharma. However, MI had a disappointing season, finishing last in the standings. The team’s performance improved in IPL 2025, making it to the playoffs.
The Mumbai Indians have not won the IPL title since 2020, and under Pandya’s leadership, the team aims to reclaim the championship this season. Notably, MI has won the IPL title five times, all under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
