Faridabad: A startling incident has come to light from Dubua Colony in Faridabad, Haryana, where 32-year-old Kavita realized she had been carrying an SLR rifle bullet inside her body since she was 12 years old.
The discovery happened two months ago when Kavita noticed a swelling on her thigh. Initially, home remedies were tried without success. However, when the swelling burst, a bullet emerged, leaving her family shocked. Medical experts confirmed that the bullet was from an SLR rifle.
On inquiry, Kavita recalled that at the age of 12, during an exam break in the playground near an army camp, she felt something sharp hit her lower body. At the time, she did not understand it was a bullet. Her teacher treated it as a minor injury and sent her home. The family applied traditional remedies like oil and turmeric on the wound, which healed over time. For the next 20 years, Kavita experienced no discomfort.
Doctors explained that bullets can sometimes remain lodged inside the body when their velocity is low. The body forms a capsule of cells around the bullet, preventing damage to other tissues. Over time, this protective barrier can break down, allowing the bullet to come out, as in Kavita’s case.
Kavita’s husband, Pradeep, expressed surprise that the bullet came out after so many years without any prior pain or medical intervention. Doctors have confirmed that Kavita is now healthy. Kavita stated she intends to keep the bullet as a keepsake, noting that many people are visiting her home to see it.
