Record Attendance and Aadhaar Verification Success
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 has achieved remarkable participation with an attendance rate of 96.15%, as reported by the National Testing Agency (NTA). A total of 7,70,441 candidates out of 8,01,326 scheduled participants took part in the exam during the first session, which commenced on January 21 and continued through January 24, with further exams slated for January 28 and 29.
Mandatory Aadhaar Verification Implemented
The NTA implemented mandatory Aadhaar verification for all candidates this year, resulting in successful verification for 7,40,412 candidates, or approximately 96.10%. Candidates were required to use their 12-digit Aadhaar number or DigiLocker for automatic detail population during registration, ensuring a streamlined process.
Inclusivity and Smooth Conduct of Examinations
Inclusivity remained a priority, as special arrangements were made for candidates with disabilities. A total of 2,563 PwD candidates participated in the first session. The exam was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across six days, with Paper 1 for BE/B.Tech programs held in two shifts daily and Paper 2 scheduled for January 29.
