KKR Triumphs Over LSG in Thrilling Super Over

Lucknow, April 26: In a nail-biting encounter during IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 38th match, which went to a Super Over. The match took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. KKR chased down the target of 2 runs set by LSG in the Super Over with a boundary from Rinku Singh on the very first ball.

Batting first, KKR scored 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, LSG matched the score, also making 155 runs but losing 8 wickets, resulting in a tie. Sunil Narine was entrusted with the bowling duties for KKR in the Super Over, where he bowled out LSG’s Nicholas Pooran on the first ball. Rishabh Pant managed to score one run on the second ball.

LSG’s innings began poorly, with Mitchell Marsh dismissed for just 2 runs. However, Aiden Markram and captain Rishabh Pant formed a crucial partnership, adding 57 runs for the second wicket. Markram scored 31 runs off 27 balls, while Pant contributed 42 runs off 38 balls, including 4 fours and a six. Nicholas Pooran’s struggles continued as he managed only 9 runs, and Mukul Chaudhary fell for just 1 run.

Ayush Badoni scored 24 runs off 19 balls with the help of two sixes, while George Linde added 8 runs before being dismissed by Vaibhav Arora. In the final over, LSG needed 17 runs to win, with Himmat Singh and Mohammed Shami at the crease. Shami managed to score a run on the first ball, but KKR’s Kartik Tyagi bowled two no-balls, allowing Himmat to score 6 runs.

However, Kartik ended Himmat Singh’s innings, which was scored off 10 balls, on the third ball. Prince Yadav took a single on the fourth ball, while the fifth ball was a dot. Shami hit a massive six on the last ball, tying the match and sending it to the Super Over. Shami remained unbeaten with 11 runs off 6 balls. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora each took two wickets.

Earlier, KKR’s captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for just 10 runs, and Tim Seifert went back to the pavilion without scoring. Ankur Raghuwanshi managed only 9 runs, while Rovman Powell was dismissed for a single run. Cameron Green scored 34 runs off 21 balls, hitting 3 sixes.

In the later overs, Rinku Singh played a remarkable innings, scoring an unbeaten 83 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. He shared a crucial partnership of 62 runs for the eighth wicket with Sunil Narine, who scored 4 runs. LSG’s Mohsin Khan was the standout bowler, taking 5 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs, while George Linde claimed one wicket.
