Patna, April 1: A tragic incident has emerged from Rohtas district in Bihar, where a man was killed due to an escalating land dispute, raising concerns about social harmony and law and order in the region.
The victim has been identified as Baijnath Singh. Reports suggest that the murder was committed by his own nephew amid a long-standing conflict over land division.
The incident occurred in Panduri village under the Nasiriganj police station area on Wednesday, when an ongoing dispute over land sharing turned violent.
According to police, Baijnath Singh was on his way to a nearby intersection with his son to have some snacks when a black car arrived at the scene. As soon as the assailants exited the vehicle, they opened fire indiscriminately at him.
Baijnath Singh sustained severe injuries in the attack and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against five named individuals in connection with the case.

The body has been sent to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem, and further legal actions are underway.
SDPO Bikramganj, Sindhu Shekhar, stated that this incident is the result of a long-standing family dispute over land division. Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim’s sister and her son had been demanding a share in the property, leading to years of tension.
