Modi Discusses Regional Situation with Irans President

New Delhi, March 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with Iran’s President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday regarding the escalating serious situation in the region. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.

He expressed concern over the safety of citizens and the damage to infrastructure, reiterating India’s commitment to peace, stability, and secure transit.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I spoke with Iran’s President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian about the serious conditions in the area. I expressed deep concern over the rising tensions, loss of civilian lives, and damage to civilian infrastructure. The safety and security of Indian citizens, along with the uninterrupted movement of goods and energy, remain top priorities for India.”

During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to peace and stability and appealed for dialogue and diplomacy.

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, India continues to maintain cordial relations with all parties. This conversation comes at a time when Iran is facing significant conflict, particularly with its ongoing war with Israel.

On Thursday, Iran also launched missile attacks on Israel, targeting the capital, Jerusalem. One missile landed just a few hundred meters from the Old City, Western Wall, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, temporarily halting prayers.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed on Thursday evening that they were responding to missile fire from Iran. The IDF stated that their defense systems were actively attempting to intercept these missiles and issued advisories for people to remain in safe locations.

The IDF shared on the official social media platform ‘X’, “The defense systems are working to counter these threats. In the last few minutes, the front command has issued initial instructions via mobile phones in the relevant areas. People are requested to act responsibly and follow the given instructions. It is essential to enter safe locations upon receiving alerts and remain there until further instructions.”
