Mumbai, March 27: The excitement surrounding ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is palpable among audiences, reminiscent of the buzz generated by the film ‘Saiyara’. While many appreciated the film, few noticed a unique aspect that director Mohit Suri recently revealed.
In a podcast with actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, Suri disclosed that instead of creating different sets for the film’s songs, he opted to use a single set multiple times. Surprisingly, most viewers did not catch this detail even after watching the entire film.
He explained, “Many songs were shot on the same set. Typically, separate sets are prepared for each song, but I chose to save costs and time by creatively reusing one set. I believe that excessive crowd and grandeur can sometimes dilute the true essence of a story. Therefore, I initially shot scenes with fewer people and included the crowd only after I was satisfied with the results.”
Suri further shared that the crowd featured in the film was invited for just one day to shoot the music scenes. Several song sequences were filmed on the same reused set. He noted, “When there are too many people on set, the focus shifts from the emotions to the crowd. Hence, we shot scenes with fewer people first, allowing the characters’ emotions to be conveyed effectively.”
He recalled a memorable moment during the shoot when junior artists on set began singing along to the ‘Saiyara’ song. This spontaneous reaction made him realize that the song would resonate with audiences. He decided to turn off the music so that people could sing along, capturing that moment on camera.
The film ‘Saiyara’, featuring Ahaan Pandey and Aneeta Padda in lead roles, was released in 2025 and achieved significant success at the box office, becoming the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
