New Delhi, March 15: With just one day left for the Rajya Sabha elections, leaders from all parties are making every effort to secure their victories.
Bihar Assembly Deputy Speaker and Janata Dal (United) leader Narendra Narayan Yadav expressed confidence in the NDA’s success, stating that they should be assured of winning all five seats.
On the other hand, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput claimed that the INDIA alliance has the potential to win in the Rajya Sabha elections. He mentioned to a news agency that the INDIA alliance and their grand coalition are fully capable of strategizing for victory. He emphasized that whether the BJP or JD(U) choose to collaborate is up to them, but they are confident that under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), they will ensure the victory of their candidate.
Bihar government minister and BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav asserted that the RJD will lose the elections, claiming that Tejashwi Yadav will not last and that their votes will come to the NDA. He questioned who would want to lead their future into darkness by staying with the RJD, stating that those who wish to secure their future in politics are joining the NDA.
Highlighting the competition for the fourth Rajya Sabha seat, RJD MLA Bhai Virendra stated, “We are willing to accept that four seats will go to the NDA, but the fifth seat will definitely belong to the grand alliance, i.e., the INDIA bloc.”
It is noteworthy that ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, various parties are holding meetings with their legislators. JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar mentioned, “As this is a biennial election for the Rajya Sabha, it is natural for our constituent parties to hold collective meetings. During these meetings, responsibilities are assigned, such as how voting will be conducted and the methodology to be followed. The role of the legislators is crucial here, not that of the Legislative Council. We have come to show our support in this meeting.”
Voting for the biennial elections to fill 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states will take place on Monday. The states include Maharashtra (7), Tamil Nadu (6), Bihar (5), West Bengal (5), Odisha (4), Assam (3), Telangana (2), Chhattisgarh (2), Haryana (2), and Himachal Pradesh (1).
