Kolkata, March 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Kamakhyaguri Railway Station in Alipurduar district on March 14. The station has been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to enhance facilities and infrastructure for passengers.
Local residents expressed their happiness over the upgraded station, stating that it will provide better amenities and convenience for travelers. One resident mentioned that the redevelopment will improve connectivity and benefit local traders and passengers.
A local individual noted, “Kamakhyaguri is our very old station. The promise of Amrit Bharat has been fulfilled. The Prime Minister is dedicating it to us. Our area has a population of one million, and we now want an increase in the number of train halts here. It will ease travel to Delhi and the south. The proximity to the Bangladesh and Bhutan borders means that train halts here will benefit all of us.”
Another resident shared, “The inauguration of the station is happening tomorrow. PM Modi will dedicate it. The people of Kamakhyaguri are very happy. The station has been decorated, and there are many facilities. The number of train halts will increase. We thank the Prime Minister.”
On Friday, PM Modi, who was in Assam, inaugurated development projects worth approximately ₹19,480 crores and laid the foundation for others in Guwahati. He addressed a large gathering in the city and extended his best wishes to the people.
During this event, PM Modi stated that with the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects worth ₹19,500 crores have taken place. He highlighted that Assam has received various projects aimed at making the state self-reliant in the energy sector and improving the convenience for travelers visiting Assam. He emphasized that Assam plays a crucial role in fulfilling the country’s renewable energy commitments.
