
Kakinada, May 11: A police constable was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, as reported by local police on Monday. The incident took place late Sunday night in the Gandhi Nagar area of the city.
According to police, the constable, Nageshwar Rao, who was part of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police, was attacked with a knife, resulting in his death. Witnesses reported that a group of intoxicated youths assaulted a man walking on the street. The police arrived promptly at the scene and identified the victim as a constable of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police. The body has been sent to the government general hospital for post-mortem examination.
A police team has visited the crime scene to gather evidence, and senior police officials have also inspected the area. An investigation has been initiated, with officers reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and apprehend the attackers. A police official stated that they are working on several leads to track down the suspects, and further information is awaited.
In a separate incident, a man drowned, and another is missing after a boat capsized in the Palnadu district. This occurred in Kakani village of the Narsaraopet mandal when the boat sank in a pond. Locals have recovered one body, identified as Pitalabanda Hussain, while search operations continue for the missing individual, identified as Aghraharam Hussain. According to police, the incident happened while both men were feeding fish in the pond.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring state of Telangana, three people were injured in a road accident in Nalgonda district when a car collided with an oil tanker. The accident occurred near Veliminedu in the Chiryal mandal. The injured individuals have been admitted to a nearby hospital, and the tanker overturned on the highway, disrupting traffic between Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
