Chennai, April 4: In an exciting match of IPL 2026 held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against Punjab Kings, who were in pursuit of their first title. Punjab emerged victorious, defeating CSK by five wickets, thanks to a stellar performance from opener Priyansh Arya, who was named Player of the Match for his explosive innings.
After the match, Priyansh shared his approach to batting, stating, “My style of play has been the same since childhood. Whenever I feel it will benefit the team, I play that way. It requires taking some risks. I trust myself that if I can hit the first ball, I will hit it.” He emphasized his confidence in his abilities, despite facing experienced bowlers.
Priyansh also mentioned his dedication to practice, saying, “I love batting, so I practice a lot. I bat in two sessions a day, each lasting an hour and a half.”
In the match, Priyansh made a significant impact right from the start, hitting a four and a six off the first two balls he faced. The left-handed batsman scored 47 runs off just 11 balls, including three fours and four sixes, turning the match in favor of his team early on.
Punjab, having won the toss and elected to bowl first, restricted CSK to 209 runs for the loss of five wickets. CSK’s Ayush Mhatre contributed significantly with a score of 73 runs, supported by Shivam Dube and Sarfaraz Khan. However, Punjab chased down the target with ease, scoring 210 runs for the loss of five wickets in just 18.4 overs, with contributions from Priyansh, Prabhsimran, and captain Shreyas Iyer.
