Chandigarh: Punjab Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against narco-terrorism. The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, has uncovered a crucial financial link in an inter-state and cross-border narco-terror module. In this operation, an accused named Satnam Singh was arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Satnam Singh played a vital role in facilitating terror funding. He used his bank accounts and UPI credentials to transfer illegal funds earned from heroin trafficking. This was done under the direction of a drug trafficker based in Pakistan, who is operating this network. Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation on Sunday.
In an ex-post on social media, the DGP stated, “In an intelligence-based operation, the State Special Operations Cell, SAS Nagar arrested Satnam Singh, exposing a key financial link of an inter-state and cross-border narco-terror module. Initial investigations have revealed that the accused, under instructions from a Pakistan-based drug trafficker, used his bank accounts and UPI credentials to route money obtained from heroin trafficking to support terror financing.”
The DGP further added, “This network is linked to large-scale heroin seizures, illegal arms trafficking, and the grenade attack in Sirsa, Haryana, in November 2025. Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance approach targets the financial and logistical cores of narco-terror networks to dismantle them. We are committed to national security and will continue decisive action against those involved in anti-national activities.”
Earlier on Saturday, based on intelligence inputs, the counter-intelligence team carried out an operation in Amritsar that resulted in the capture of an illegal arms trafficking gang. Three accused were taken into custody, and three foreign pistols along with ammunition were recovered. Initial probes indicate that the arrested individuals were acting under orders from gangsters based abroad and were planning serious criminal activities.
