Mumbai, March 10: Indian cinema is poised to take another significant leap on the global stage with the announcement of a major strategic partnership for the highly anticipated film ‘Varanasi’ directed by renowned filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli. Under this agreement, Sky Blue Cinematics has been granted exclusive worldwide brand integration rights for the film.
This strategic partnership could revolutionize how brands are incorporated into big-budget films. Traditionally, brands are merely showcased through product placements, but this project aims to weave them into the narrative itself.
S. S. Rajamouli is regarded as one of the most visionary filmmakers in Indian cinema today, having strengthened the global identity of Indian cinema through his works. His films are known for their grand visuals and compelling emotional narratives, often perceived as cultural experiences.
With ‘Varanasi’, Rajamouli is set to embark on another ambitious experiment. Many industry experts consider it his most ambitious project to date, designed for a global audience on both technical and narrative scales.
The film’s story is being developed on a grand scale. ‘Varanasi’ is a high-octane action-adventure film that will blend ancient Indian tales with modern narratives. The storyline will traverse various countries and locations, earning it the title of a global cinematic spectacle.
The film is expected to break several records, potentially becoming one of the most expensive films in India. Additionally, it will be the first Indian film shot in the 1.43:1 IMAX format, offering audiences an expansive and immersive cinematic experience.
The star cast also adds to the film’s allure, featuring South Indian cinema superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role, alongside internationally recognized actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and talented actor Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Plans are also underway to create exceptional music for the film, with Oscar-winning composer M. M. Keeravani at the helm.
‘Varanasi’ is set to be released in theaters worldwide in 2027, with reports suggesting a release in over 120 countries, making it one of the most impactful Indian films on a global scale.
Sky Blue Cinematics will play a crucial role in this entire project, responsible for partnering with brands worldwide and integrating them into the film’s narrative.
The company has stated that they will move beyond traditional product placements to utilize ‘authentic narrative weaves.’ Brands will be incorporated into the story in a way that makes them feel like a natural part of the film’s world.
Commenting on this partnership, director S. S. Rajamouli said, “Varanasi is a film being made on a grand scale, and every partnership will help reach a wider audience. I hope that working with Sky Blue Cinematics will allow global brands to be integrated into the film’s story in a respectful and natural manner.”
Manikandamurthy Velayudhan, Group Chairman of Sky Blue Group, expressed, “It is an honor to be associated with such a large film. ‘Varanasi’ is a global cinematic movement, and we are proud to be tasked with advancing global brand partnerships for this project.”
