Rajasthan Royals Captain Ryan Parag Reflects on Costly Missed Catches

Jaipur, April 25: In the 36th match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a 5-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday. Following the team’s third loss of the season, captain Ryan Parag acknowledged that missed catches proved to be quite costly for the team.

After the match, Ryan stated, “We performed well in terms of skill. However, we dropped catches that hit us hard. You cannot afford to drop catches against exceptional players like Abhishek. It’s part of the game. We need to be clinical, and fielding plays a significant role. We will come back mentally refreshed for the next match.”

He further added, “To be honest, they bowled well in the 18th and 19th overs and delivered some excellent yorkers. We wanted to score an additional 10-15 runs. Both left-handed batsmen (Ishan and Abhishek) were at the crease, and I felt that my chances along with Ferreira to take wickets were better, as the pitch wasn’t assisting spinners. Things didn’t go as planned, but we will aim for the same next time.”

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 228 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi shining with a spectacular century, scoring 103 runs off 37 balls. Dhruv Jurel contributed with 51 runs. However, SRH chased down the target of 229 runs in just 18.3 overs, losing 5 wickets.

For SRH, Abhishek Sharma scored 57 runs off 29 balls, while Ishan Kishan played a powerful innings, scoring 74 runs off 31 balls. Heinrich Klaasen added 29 runs off 24 balls, and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 36 runs off 18 balls, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. This marks SRH’s fifth win of the season, while RR has now faced three defeats.
