Burhanpur, February 9: A special Health camp was organized at the District Hospital’s ANC OPD in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, under the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign on Monday. During the camp, over 40 pregnant women underwent physical and mental health assessments. Following the examinations, more than six women were identified as having high-risk pregnancies, and they were provided timely treatment, necessary medical tests, and expert consultations to prevent potential complications.
The camp also emphasized the importance of four essential prenatal tests for pregnant women and their families. Special awareness was raised regarding the need for mental health during pregnancy, its identification, and significance. Doctors urged women to opt for institutional deliveries to ensure safe motherhood.
Additionally, information about the 24/7 free support services available under the CCP, FCC, and PMH programs was shared. These services include prenatal and postnatal care, as well as mental and emotional counseling. The camp also explained how to access health assistance from home through Tele-Maanas, the Manhit app, and the Suman Sakhi helpline in simple language.
The Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign is conducted on the 9th and 25th of every month, aiming to strengthen maternal and child safety, promote institutional deliveries, and effectively reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. Pregnant women attending the camp expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that this initiative is a significant step towards women’s health, safety, and respect.
Manisha Awase, a pregnant woman who visited the district hospital for check-ups, shared with a news agency that all types of tests were being conducted completely free of charge and that the treatment was of high quality. She noted that private hospitals charge hefty fees for doctors and tests, while the district hospital provides good and accessible facilities for women from villages.
Another pregnant woman, Yogita Dipesh Bhalerao, mentioned that she came to the camp for her and her baby’s check-up, where all tests were conducted free of cost. She expressed relief from the fees charged for tests in private hospitals and encouraged other women to take full advantage of such camps organized at the district hospital. She praised the initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for women, calling the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign extremely beneficial.
Gynecologist Dr. Poonam Singhal explained that special camps are held on the 9th and 25th of every month under the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign, focusing on complicated pregnancies and delivery cases. She stated that women with complications like high blood pressure are admitted for timely and appropriate treatment to ensure safe deliveries, thereby reducing maternal mortality rates. Many rural women are often unaware of rising blood pressure, and these camps help diagnose complications early, with regular follow-ups scheduled. Ultrasound facilities are also provided at the camp.
Seema David, the district in-charge of the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign, highlighted that the main objective of this initiative is to take concrete steps towards safe motherhood. She noted that this initiative has consistently reduced maternal and infant mortality rates. It is an effective campaign operated by the Prime Minister, held on specific dates each month. She emphasized her commitment to providing quality health services to pregnant women, ensuring their physical and mental development, as they often experience anxiety, stress, and fear during pregnancy.
