Tejashwi Criticizes Bihar Government for Electricity Price Hike

Patna, March 30: Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly, has criticized the state government for its decision to increase electricity prices during peak hours. The National Executive President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) stated that the Nitish-BJP alliance has once again betrayed the public.

Yadav remarked that the government, which promised free electricity for the first 125 units during the election campaign, has reverted to its true colors within just four months, exploiting the people. He issued a statement revealing that the new rates will charge ₹8.10 per unit for the highest consumption hours from 5 PM to 11 PM, ₹7.10 per unit from 11 PM to 9 AM, and ₹5.94 per unit for the remaining eight hours.

He further warned that those who temporarily felt pleased and compromised their votes will soon witness even worse conditions under this government. With only four months into the new administration, he claimed that the treasury is nearly empty, and any remaining funds will be siphoned off by corrupt officials.

Yadav accused the Election Commission of unethical practices and collusion with corrupt officials, alleging that this election was fought with the intent to undermine democracy. He stated that the so-called “corrupt bhunja party” has violated democratic norms and traditions by distributing ₹41,000 crore from the government treasury in the last 35 days leading up to the elections.

He concluded by asserting that the face of the government, which was manipulated under a calculated conspiracy, will ultimately bear the blame for this democratic disgrace and the failure of their lofty promises. Yadav claimed that Bihar is now entering an unprecedented phase of rampant bribery, looting, and uncontrolled corruption.
