Hyderabad, June 2: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla stated on Tuesday that the formation of the state symbolizes the sacrifices of martyrs and decades of democratic struggles.
On the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day, the Governor hoisted the national flag at Lok Bhavan and subsequently received a ‘Guard of Honor’ from police forces.
He paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives during the Telangana movement. The Governor extended his best wishes to all the people of the state and to every son and daughter of Telangana residing around the world.
He urged everyone to remember and honor those who laid the foundation for modern Telangana. Citing the saying, “Janani Janmabhoomishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi” (Mother and Motherland are greater than heaven), he emphasized that one’s homeland is indeed superior to heaven.
The Governor highlighted that Telangana’s centuries-old culture, traditions, and rural agricultural heritage are the true lifeblood of the state. He praised the efforts of the agricultural community, from the series of tanks from the Kakatiya era to today’s modern irrigation projects, which have transformed Telangana into a lush and fertile land.
He proudly noted that alongside agriculture, Telangana has gained international recognition in various sectors, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and startups.
Inspired by constitutional values and the noble ideal of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” (May all be happy), the Governor expressed his aspiration for a prosperous Telangana, where rural and urban development, welfare of all sections of society, and modernization of cities progress in perfect balance.
He further expressed hope that Telangana will achieve even greater development and play a significant role in the nation’s progress.
The Governor’s special chief secretary M. Dana Kishore, joint secretary Shashikiran Chari, and officials, staff, and personnel of Lok Bhavan participated in the ceremonies.
