
New Delhi, April 5: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, India’s first Dalit Deputy Prime Minister, tributes were paid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Amit Shah remarked that Jagjivan Ram’s struggle will always serve as an inspiration for future generations.
In a post on the social media platform X, Amit Shah stated, “On the birth anniversary of the champion of social justice, Babu Jagjivan Ram, I pay my respects. Jagjivan Babu dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation and social justice. He made an unprecedented contribution to the freedom struggle and bravely confronted divisive forces while opposing conversions. His fight for the rights of the weaker and marginalized sections of society will always inspire us.”
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid tribute on X, writing, “I humbly salute the great freedom fighter and skilled administrator Babu Jagjivan Ram, who always fought for the rights of the poor, marginalized, and oppressed.”
Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, expressed his respect on X, stating, “I pay my respects on the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, a pioneer of social harmony and a freedom fighter. His dedication to public service and commitment to social justice will always remain a source of inspiration for all of us.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his tribute on X, saying, “I humbly pay tribute to the great freedom fighter, champion of social justice, former Deputy Prime Minister, and people’s leader Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. He amplified the voices of the marginalized, oppressed, and weaker sections of society and continuously fought for equal opportunities and social harmony. His life inspires us to create a more just society through service, dedication, and social cohesion.”
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also paid homage on X, stating, “I bow in reverence to the freedom fighter and former Deputy Prime Minister, the esteemed Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. He raised his voice for the upliftment of the poor, weak, and oppressed, dedicating his life to their welfare.”
