Earlier, on 15 January, a police team from Gujaini police station had arrested him. However, the cunning criminal escaped police custody by pushing a sentry on duty and fleeing under the pretext of going to the toilet. Since then, police have been conducting continuous raids to find him.

On Wednesday, police received information about the accused’s presence near the Banpurwa area. Upon checking the area, a suspicious person was spotted approaching. When police tried to stop him, he fired at the team and attempted to run away. In response, police fired in self-defence, injuring him in the leg. The accused fell at the spot.

During interrogation, he identified himself as Kallu alias Vishal, son of Ramprasad. Police stated that he is involved in five cases of robbery and theft and had been carrying out crimes in the region continuously. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Dipendra Nath Chaudhary said the accused will be sent to jail after medical treatment and examination.

Meanwhile, Kasganj police also achieved a major success. Following a robbery in Nagla Mani village under Dholna police station, four teams were formed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma.

During a night check at Bhagwant bridge, a motorcyclist coming from Garhi Pachgai was signalled to stop by police torchlight. The person did not stop and fled on a rough path. In a hurry, his bike slipped, and when police chased him, the criminal fired at the police with intent to kill.

Police returned fire, injuring the culprit’s leg. The injured was identified as Yogendra, son of Atar Singh, resident of Kinawa village, Dholna police station, Kasganj district. In interrogation, he admitted his involvement along with others in the robbery at Nagla Mani.

Police recovered a motorcycle, an illegal pistol, one live cartridge, two blank cartridges, and ₹35,000 from his possession. The injured was sent to Kasganj district hospital for treatment.
