
Greater Noida police arrested two wanted criminals in an encounter late Monday night in the Dadri police station area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Both suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the police’s retaliatory action. The accused were wanted in connection with a recent murder case. Authorities recovered illegal firearms and ammunition from the site and admitted the injured to hospital for treatment.
According to police officials, on the night of 5 January 2026, the Dadri police were conducting checks on suspicious persons and vehicles near Jarcha Underpass. Two suspicious individuals approached from the opposite direction. The police signalled them to stop, but they refused and attempted to flee. The police team pursued them on suspicion.
Feeling trapped, the criminals opened fire on the police party with intent to kill. In response, the police retaliated in self-defence, injuring both suspects. They were later identified as Prashant alias Sittu, son of Bijendra, resident of Kamrala, Dadri police station area, and Prashant, son of Gajab Singh, resident of Nizampur, Sikandrabad police station, Bulandshahr district.
The police recovered two illegal .315 bore pistols, two live cartridges, and two blank cartridges from their possession. Officials stated the accused were involved in a serious criminal incident on 5 January 2026 in the Dadri area. The suspects allegedly brutally assaulted the victim’s cousin Mohit, son of Dharmveer, and village resident Harkesh, son of Jatan Singh, with sticks and rods with the intention to kill.
During the attack, they threatened to kill the victims and damaged a vehicle. Harkesh suffered severe injuries and later died during treatment, leading to the addition of murder charges in the case. The police had been searching for the accused since then. The two were apprehended following the encounter.
Police officials confirmed that the injured are receiving medical care and further legal action is underway. The police remain vigilant to maintain law and order in the area and will continue strict action against individuals involved in criminal activities.
