
New Delhi, February 9: The police in Dwarka have claimed to have solved a theft case involving over ₹30 lakh. A woman has been arrested in connection with the incident, which involved the theft of cash and jewelry from a residence. The police reported on Monday that the woman was apprehended after the stolen items were recovered from her possession.
During the operation, authorities recovered approximately 190 grams of gold jewelry valued at around ₹30 lakh, two silver coins worth about ₹4,000, and ₹18,000 in cash from the accused. Investigations revealed that the woman had worked in the same household and seized the opportunity to steal the valuables when she was alone.
According to the Dwarka district police, the case was registered following a complaint received on February 1. The complainant, Amit Lochav, reported that gold jewelry and cash had been stolen from his home, specifically accusing the domestic worker in his complaint.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was filed at the Dwarka Sector-23 police station under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A team was formed to investigate the matter, and the police began searching for the maid.
Acting on a tip-off, the police discovered that the maid, Jyoti, was residing in Issapur Khera village under the Kapashera police station. A raid was conducted at her residence, during which the stolen gold jewelry was recovered.
The recovered items included four gold bangles (approximately 80 grams), two gold bracelets (approximately 50 grams), one gold chain (approximately 25 grams), a gold and platinum bracelet (approximately 20 grams), three gold rings (approximately 18 grams), a pair of gold earrings (approximately 5 grams), two silver coins (approximately 20 grams), and ₹18,000 in cash. The Delhi police are currently engaged in further action regarding the case.
