
Raipur, January 10. A shocking incident of brutal assault has emerged from Kunakuri in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh. In a swift response, police have apprehended five suspects and have sent them to jail, while one accused remains at large.
The incident occurred on January 8, 2026, when the accused lured 18-year-old Vishal Khakha from Jokbahla to a location near the Kandora ground in Kunakuri under the pretext of a settlement discussion. Upon arrival, six assailants verbally abused him before attacking him with fists, hands, and belts, resulting in severe injuries to Vishal.
Following Vishal’s complaint, Inspector Rakesh Kumar Yadav from the Kunakuri Police Station treated the matter with utmost seriousness. Relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been invoked against the accused, alongside charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The police conducted prompt raids, leading to the arrest of five individuals identified as Naushad, Ahmed Raza, Faizan Khan, Mohammad Altalam alias Badal, and Amit Das. The motorcycle used in the incident has also been confiscated by law enforcement.
Jashpur SSP Shashi Mohan Singh emphasized that any attempt to engage in lawlessness and vigilantism would not be tolerated. He instructed a stringent approach towards such incidents to uphold the rule of law in society. The police’s quick action has brought a sense of relief to the local community, although the search for the remaining accused continues.
This incident has sparked considerable discussion at the local level, with police assuring the public that efforts are underway to capture the fugitive suspect. Authorities have urged community members to remain vigilant and resolve disputes through dialogue to prevent minor disagreements from escalating into violence.
