Delhi Police Identifies 548 Illegal Foreign Nationals in 2025, Majority from Bangladesh

New Delhi: The Outer District Police of Delhi conducted a major operation in 2025 targeting illegal foreign nationals residing in the area. Over the course of the year-long drive, authorities identified 548 individuals staying without valid visas or documents.

All those apprehended were presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which ordered their deportation and sent them to detention centres for further processing.

The campaign was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Outer District, Sachin Sharma, involving special teams from various police units and stations. The Foreigners Cell recorded the highest number of detections with 318 foreigners identified, followed by Nihal Vihar Police Station with 134, Mundka with 87, Ranhola with 5, Rani Bagh with 1, West Vihar East with 1, and the Cyber Police Station with 2 arrests. These teams remained vigilant throughout the year, conducting raids to locate illegal residents.

The arrested individuals hailed from several countries, with the largest group being from Bangladesh, numbering 380. Other nationalities included 111 Nigerians, 17 from Ivory Coast, 13 Ghanaians, 10 each from Senegal and Cameroon, 2 from Niger, and one each from Liberia, Russia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Gambia. Many had overstayed their visas and were living in various parts of the Outer District without proper documentation.

Police stated this operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain safety and curb unauthorised migration in the district. The presence of illegal foreigners affects law and order, making such drives essential. After their arrest, all individuals were legally presented before the FRRO, which issued deportation orders and directed their transfer to detention centres where further proceedings are underway.

The crackdown against illegal foreign nationals continues in Delhi, with the Outer District Police sending a strong message about strict enforcement of the law. Officials confirmed that similar operations will be conducted in the future to ensure no unauthorised persons remain in the district.
