Dehradun, January 9. A joint team from the district administration and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) demolished an illegal structure near the Clock Tower on government land late Thursday night.
This action followed the expiration of the notice period. The administration clarified that the entire process was conducted within legal boundaries, emphasizing that any form of illegal occupation on government land would not be tolerated.
According to administrative sources, the structure had already been declared illegal, and a notice was issued allowing time for its removal. After the stipulated period ended without compliance, a bulldozer was deployed for demolition. A heavy police presence was maintained during the operation to manage any potential disturbances.
Officials from the district administration stated that the Clock Tower area is highly sensitive and crucial for traffic management. Illegal constructions on government land not only violate the law but also hinder public order and development plans. Therefore, the decision to carry out the demolition at night was made to minimize inconvenience to the public.
