Delhi Youth Arrested for Waving Weapons on Social Media

New Delhi, January 9. The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka District Police has made a significant arrest, apprehending a youth found in possession of illegal firearms. The accused was reportedly flaunting weapons on social media and attempting to assert his dominance among friends.

The arrested individual has been identified as 19-year-old Manish, also known as Mishu, a resident of Delhi. According to police sources, he was influenced by notorious gangsters from Najafgarh and surrounding areas and was on the verge of stepping into the world of crime.

In a press release, the police stated that AATS received specific instructions to monitor individuals with illegal weapons and emerging criminals. Under the leadership of Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, a special team was formed, including Sub-Inspector Jitendra, Head Constables Manish, Sonu, Sandeep, and Manoj.

The team operated under the supervision of ACP/Ops Dwarka, Shri Ravinder Ahlawat, and began closely monitoring social media platforms and WhatsApp profiles where criminals were posting pictures with weapons to create an impression. Additionally, an intelligence network was activated to gather information.

On January 2, during the investigation of gang-related activities, the AATS team received credible information. Acting on this tip-off, they arrested Manish, recovering a homemade single-shot pistol and a live cartridge from his possession. Following this, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against him under Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at BHD Nagar police station in Delhi.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Manish is a permanent resident of Jharoada Kalan village and has completed up to the 10th grade before dropping out of school. He had come into contact with infamous gangster Om Prakash, also known as Kala, and his brother Amit, known as Bage, who are currently in judicial custody in an MCOCA case. Police indicated that Manish had acquired the illegal weapon to impress his friends, sharing pictures with it on social media and updating his WhatsApp status and display picture.

The Dwarka District Police have termed this operation a significant success in curbing crime and have made it clear that strict action will continue against those possessing illegal firearms and spreading terror through social media.
